Roads and buildings minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, along with some Congress MPs, met union road transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi on Tuesday. They sought the union cabinet and the Public Private Partnership Appraisal Committee approvals for the northern corridor of the Regional Ring Road (RRR).
They also met Union civil aviation minister K Ram Mohan Naidu and thanked him for the approval for the Mamnoor Airport in Warangal district. The group urged him to speed up the pre-approval process for other airports at Bhadradri-Kothagudem, Jakranpally in Adilabad, Peddapalli, and Nizamabad districts.
Later, Komatireddy told media persons that Gadkari assured them that the preliminary works related to the RRR would be completed and the work would start within two months. The civil aviation minister also assured that Mamnoor Airport development is targeted to be completed in two and a half years.
Earlier, during his meeting with Gadkari, the Komatireddy-led delegation urged him to expedite the signing of the Economic Tripartite Agreement and forest clearances for the northern part, for which tenders were called for 7,100 crore in five packages. They also requested him to finalise the alignment of the RRR southern part being constructed, connecting the Choutuppal-Amangal-Shadnagar-Sangareddy route.
“We urged union minister Gadkari for the construction of a 62-km elevated corridor on the 187-km Hyderabad-Srisailam highway(NH 765), which passes through the Amrabad Tiger Reserve. Forest permissions are mandatory to go ahead with the project. We brought to his notice that the central govt proposed the Hyderabad-Srisailam Elevated Corridor for the convenience of devotees going to Srisailam temple, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas, also known as Dakshina Kashi, and that the survey was completed in June 2024 itself,” he said.
Komatireddy also urged Gadkari to sanction five ropeway projects under the Parvat Mala scheme of the centre to connect tourist places. “Telangana state should be included in the scheme. Telangana has important religious and tourist destinations, and ropeway projects in Yadagirigutta Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple, Bhuvanagiri Fort, and Hanuman Konda in Nalgonda town are essential,” he said.
The Telangana minister also sought the completion of the 6-laning of the Hyderabad-Vijayawada section of NH 65 and the four-laning of the Hyderabad-Manneguda section of NH 163.
The minister was accompanied by Khammam MP Ramasayam Raghuram Reddy, Nagarkurnool MP Mallu Ravi, Peddapalli MP Gaddam Vamsi Krishna, Bhuvanagiri MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, Nalgonda MP Kundur Raghuveer Reddy, and senior officials, including R&B Special Chief Secretary Vikas Raj and Special Secretary Dasari Harichandana.
