SriLankan Airlines will introduce a new daytime flight between Bangalore and Colombo starting October 31, 2024, increasing the total weekly flights between the two cities to ten. This new service is tailored for Indian holidaymakers and business travelers seeking short weekend getaways to Sri Lanka.
Flight UL 1174 will depart from Bangalore at 09:40 AM on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, arriving in Colombo at 11:10 AM. The return flight, UL 1173, will leave Colombo at 07:20 AM, landing in Bangalore at 08:40 AM on the same days.
The new schedule aims to provide Bengalureans with a more flexible travel experience, allowing them to maximize their time in Sri Lanka, whether for leisure or work. With flights conveniently positioned closer to the weekend, travelers can enjoy more daytime hours on the island, efficiently packing their itineraries before returning home for the new week, making this flight option particularly appealing for weekend trips.
Sri Lanka’s growing appeal as a holiday and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) destination in the Indian outbound travel market is bolstered by the geographical and cultural similarities between the two nations. Many Indian visitors find a sense of familiarity in Sri Lanka that is often missing elsewhere.
The island’s compactness, combined with the new flight schedule, allows Indian travelers to explore a variety of experiences in just a few days, from its picturesque southern beaches and historical kovils in the north to the cooler regions of the central province, along with shopping and rejuvenating wellness treatments in Colombo. The attractive schedule is just one of the reasons SriLankan Airlines is a preferred choice for Indian travelers. Members of the airline’s frequent flyer program, FlySmiLes, can earn 1,174 miles on flight UL 1174 and 1,173 miles on flight UL 1173.
In addition to the new service, SriLankan Airlines will maintain its existing daily flights between Bangalore and Colombo. India is uniquely represented in SriLankan Airlines’ network with nine cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kochi, Trivandrum, Chennai, Trichy, and Madurai, alongside Bangalore. Overall, the airline operates nearly 90 flights weekly between India and Sri Lanka.
