Andhra Pradesh tourism, art, and culture dept has received a significant allocation of 269.92 crore in the 2025-26 budget, which underline govt’s commitment to boost tourism infrastructure, preserve cultural heritage, and promote artistic endeavours.
Tourism dept received an allocation of 231.88 crore, with 168.84 crore earmarked for revenue expenditure and 63.04 crore for capital outlay on tourism infrastructure. Govt is focusing on enhancing tourist infrastructure, modernising accommodations, and launching new tourism projects to attract both domestic and international visitors.
The development of Akhanda Godavari and Gandikota as major tourism destinations are among the key projects earmarked for funding. AP Tourism Authority has been allocated 63 crore, ensuring the expansion of tourism promotion initiatives.
Additionally, Bhavani Island Tourism Corporation (BITC) will receive 10 crore. Investments are also directed towards Shilparamam and the State Institute of Hospitality Management (SIHM) in Kakinada, emphasising skill development in tourism and hospitality sector.
The cultural affairs dept has been allocated 25.71 crore, ensuring sustained support for local arts, cultural festivals, and heritage conservation. The budget prioritises Fine Arts education, including funding for govt music colleges and cultural institutions with a total allocation of 7.97 crore. Additionally, 14.50 crore has been designated for grants to cultural bodies working towards the promotion of Telugu arts and literature.
Significant emphasis has been placed on preserving and promoting Telugu language, with additional funds allocated for literary and cultural programs. These initiatives aim to reinforce AP’s rich artistic and linguistic traditions, which have played a crucial role in shaping the region’s identity.
The archaeology and museums dept has been allocated 12.31 crore, focusing on the conservation of historical monuments, excavation projects, and the development of state museums. The funding will be used for renovation and maintenance of heritage sites, including the Ghantasala museum.
Tourism and culture minister Kandula Durgesh said the investments will support ongoing excavation projects, historical research, and the digitisation of museum collections to make AP’s rich history more accessible to people.
“State govt is committed to ensure the preservation of cultural and historical landmarks as part of its long-term tourism and heritage development strategy,” he said.
