There is no doubt over MS Dhoni's future with Chennai Super Kings and he will be retained by the franchise should he continue to play the T20 league. The BCCI could reintroduce the uncapped player rule, which can benefit CSK and Dhoni.
MS Dhoni will be categorised as an uncapped player and can be retained by CSK for a low amount (4 crore likely) if the BCCI reintroduces the rule. The rule was in excistence between 2008 to 2021.
MS Dhoni hinted at retiring after IPL 2024 by giving up captaincy. He handed over the job to Ruturaj Gaikwad and played the complete season under him. Dhoni retired from international cricket in 2020.

Devon Conway had proven his worth while playing for Chennai Super Kings and he could CSK's overseason retention before the IPL 2025 mega-auction. The left-handed batsman scored 252 runs in IPL 2022 and followed up with 672 runs.
Devon Conway joined CSK for Rs 1 crore. His salary will increase should CSK retain him. CSK might have to pay CSK more than Rs 5 crore if he isn't released. Conway missed IPL 2024 due to an injury.
