Many trains plying from or to southern Tamil Nadu were cancelled or short-terminated on Monday due to flooding on the tracks. A statement from Southern Railway said changes were made in the pattern of train services as water level near a railway bridge between Vikravandi and Mundiyampakkam rose above the danger level.
Train No. 22676 Tiruchchirappalli – Chennai Egmore Cholan Superfast Express, scheduled to leave Trichy at 11 am, Train No. 20628 Nagercoil – Chennai Egmore Vande Bharat Express, scheduled to leave Nagercoil at 2.20pm, Train No. 22672 Madurai – Chennai Egmore Tejas Express, scheduled to leave Madurai at 3pm., Train No. 12635 Chennai Egmore – Madurai Vaigai Superfast Express, scheduled to leave Chennai Egmore at 1.50pm.
Train No. 12605 Chennai Egmore – Karaikkudi Pallavan Superfast Express, scheduled to leave Chennai Egmore at 3.45pm, and Train No. 20665 Chennai Egmore – Tirunelveli Vande Bharat Express, scheduled to leave Chennai Egmore at 2.50pm, were cancelled on Monday.Train No. 06036 Thiruvananthapuram North (Kochuveli) – Tambaram AC Special, which left Kochuveli at 3.25pm on Sunday, Train No. 06012 Nagercoil – Tambaram Special, which left Nagercoil at 11.15pm on Sunday, and Train No. 06185 Coimbatore – Tambaram Express, which left Coimbatore at 11.45pm on Sunday, were short-terminated at Villupuram.
