Tourism Malaysia participated in SATTE 2025 in New Delhi, further solidifying its commitment to the Indian market. The event, held from 19th to 21st February, marked the 21st time Tourism Malaysia has showcased its offerings at South Asia’s leading tourism fair. This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Malaysia’s position as a preferred destination for Indian travellers.
The agency’s focus at SATTE 2025 was on niche products such as luxury tourism, golf, shopping, honeymoon packages, theme parks, and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions). These offerings cater to the evolving demands of Indian tourists. As part of their strategy, Tourism Malaysia also highlighted the country’s recognition as the Best MICE Destination for 2024 in the Indian market. The agency aims to tap into the growing interest in MICE tourism and leverage the significant trade and business linkages between the two nations.
“Tourism Malaysia remains committed to attracting a growing number of Indian visitors, catering to their diverse preferences,” said Ahmad Johanif Mohd Ali, Director of Tourism Malaysia’s New Delhi Office. “The Indian market has been a significant source of visitors to Malaysia for over two decades. With the upcoming Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VM2026) campaign, we are focused on significantly increasing arrivals from the Indian market.”
India is currently Malaysia’s sixth-largest source of international visitors, with 1.4 million Indian tourists recorded in 2024. Air connectivity between the two countries is robust, with over 43,000 seats available weekly, operated by airlines such as Malaysia Airlines, AirAsia, Air India, and IndiGo.
In addition to its presence at SATTE, Tourism Malaysia has conducted roadshows across major Indian cities, including Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Kochi, to further promote Malaysia as a leading travel destination.
