Sunil Kumar, President of the Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI), has been re-elected as the Global President of UFTAA (United Federation of Travel Agents Associations) for the term 2025-2026. This term marks a special occasion as UFTAA celebrates its Diamond Jubilee, commemorating 60 years of representing the global travel agency and tourism industry.
UFTAA, founded in 1966 and headquartered in Monaco, serves as a powerful international confederation that unites travel agencies, promotes sustainable tourism, and advocates for the interests of the industry on the global stage. Its vast network provides invaluable opportunities for stakeholders across the travel and tourism sector to connect, collaborate, and drive progress.
The announcement was made at the UFTAA Annual General Assembly on 27th March 2025, where Mr Kumar, representing TAAI, was once again elected to lead the organisation. He will be at the helm as UFTAA looks to mark a historic year with its Diamond Jubilee celebrations and introduce new initiatives to expand its reach and impact.
The newly elected UFTAA Board comprises key industry leaders from 11 countries, including Mr. Yossi Fatael (VP Aviation & IATA matters, Israel), Mr. Cetin Gurcun (VP Tourism, Turkey), and Mr. William D’Souza (VP Finance, Canada), among others.
Speaking about his re-election, Mr. Sunil Kumar said, “I am honoured to lead UFTAA during such an important milestone. The upcoming year presents an exciting opportunity to further strengthen our role in the global tourism sector, promoting collaboration and sustainability across borders.”
As UFTAA prepares for its Diamond Jubilee celebrations in 2026, the organisation is planning to introduce several new initiatives and expand its global influence, solidifying its commitment to the growth of the travel and tourism industry worldwide.
