EXCLUSIVE: Israeli series Bad Boy has its Netflix premiere date.
The show from Euphoria creator Ron Leshem and Hagar Ben-Asher has just swept up at the Israeli Television Academy Awards and will now drop on Netflix on May 2.
Bad Boy launched on Israeli network Hot late last year. From Peter Chernin’s North Road and Israeli studio Sipur, Bad Boy tells the story of Dean, who is imprisoned in a cruel juvenile detention facility. While in jail, Dean bonds with Zoro, a grim and mysterious teenage prisoner serving time for murder. He also learns to harness his unique intelligence and creativity and, 20 years later, these traits define Dean as a star comedian, while his time in jail is a secret threatening to resurface and tear his life apart.
Netflix acquired global streaming rights after the series had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2023.
The show is one of many big Israeli offerings acquired by Netflix down the years in a nation that has always punched above its weight in terms of hit global content.
Bad Boy won seven awards at the Israeli version of the Emmys last week, including Best Drama, Best Directing and Best Writing.
Bad Boy stars Daniel Chen, Havtamo Farda, Guy Manster. EPs are Tmira Yardeni, Leshem, Ben Asher, Chen, Mirit Toovi, Guy Levy, Ori Gal, Emilio Schenker, Michael Peter Schmidt, Gideon Tadmor, Jan David Frouman, Amy Israel and Kristin Jones Hill.
