Marriott International has announced the signing of a new agreement with The Balwa Group to launch the Le Méridien brand in Mumbai. The property, to be named Le Méridien Mumbai International Airport, is scheduled to open in January 2029 and will mark a significant addition to the city’s hospitality sector.
Located just two kilometres from Mumbai International Airport, the hotel will offer 161 guest rooms and suites. Plans for the property include a specialty restaurant, a patisserie, and the Le Méridien Hub — a modernised take on the hotel lobby designed to encourage social interaction, featuring barista-crafted coffee by day and signature beverages by evening at the Latitude/Longitude Bar.
The property will also provide recreational amenities, including a fitness centre, an open-air swimming pool and a spa. Event facilities are expected to cover 1,357 square metres of banquet space, including outdoor lawns and a terrace, intended to accommodate a variety of gatherings from business meetings to social events.
Ranju Alex, Regional Vice President, South Asia, Marriott International, said: “Le Méridien has always inspired travellers to explore the world in style and savour the good life through the lens of its creative-minded spirit, and what better city to continue this journey than in the lively, ever-evolving city of Mumbai. This signing marks a strategic step in expanding Marriott International’s lifestyle portfolio across the region, and we are excited to once again collaborate with The Balwa Group.”
Rafiq Balwa, Director and Vice President of The Balwa Group, added: “This marks the third hotel collaboration between the two groups. Le Méridien, a brand known for unlocking the charm of each destination through curated experiences and timeless style, will bring a fresh perspective to Mumbai’s hospitality scene.”
