IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced the signing of two Garner properties in India, marking the brand’s debut in the country. Garner Etawah in Uttar Pradesh and Garner Kathua in Jammu & Kashmir are scheduled to open in 2026 and 2027 respectively, developed in partnership with Madan Infradevelopers and Rudraksh Nakshatra Hotel. Rosastays (Rosaoul Hotelco) will operate both hotels under a third-party management model.
Garner, IHG’s midscale conversion brand, is designed to offer flexible and dependable stays, targeting modern travellers who seek essential comforts over luxury. The brand’s India debut signals IHG’s intent to grow its presence in the domestic midscale segment through franchised operations.
Etawah, a transit point in central Uttar Pradesh, is also emerging as a destination for family and social events. Garner Etawah will offer 40 rooms, a ballroom, all-day dining, and meeting facilities to support business and leisure needs. Kathua, strategically located at the edge of Jammu & Kashmir, is expanding as an industrial and pharmaceutical hub while drawing religious and leisure tourists. Garner Kathua will include 45 rooms, a swimming pool, a restaurant, and event spaces.
Sudeep Jain, Managing Director, South West Asia, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said: “As we continue to strengthen our mainstream offering in India, Garner is a strategic addition to our portfolio. These signings highlight our commitment to supporting the evolving preferences of domestic travellers while driving value for our partners.”
Deepika Arora, Director, Rosastays, added: “We are excited to support Garner’s India entry and to bring our operational expertise to these new locations.”
Local partners also expressed optimism about the market. “Etawah is seeing rising demand for quality stays,” said Vivek Yadav of Madan Infradevelopers. Mohan Singh of Rudraksh Nakshatra Hotel added, “Kathua’s industrial growth makes it ideal for a well-managed midscale hotel.”
