The De-Suung Skilling Programme (DSP), initiated under the vision of His Majesty The King of Bhutan, has launched an open invitation for global trainers to share their expertise with Bhutanese youth. The programme aims to equip young people with the necessary skills to thrive in an evolving global workforce, offering training in over 157 disciplines. By incorporating global perspectives, DSP seeks to enhance the capabilities and confidence of Bhutanese youth, with a focus on long-term career development.
DSP offers training in a wide range of sectors, including construction, culinary arts, tourism, agriculture, ICT, digital marketing, and the arts. The programme is designed to foster practical skills and professional confidence, helping to address skills gaps in Bhutan’s workforce. Trainers are expected to deliver instruction that meets international standards, contributing to the overall professional growth of the youth participants.
Trainers participating in the DSP will be provided with accommodation, a stipend, return flights, and visas, as well as flexible training dates. The programme allows trainers to engage with Bhutan’s culture and heritage while contributing to the development of the local workforce. The initiative is open to experienced professionals with relevant expertise and a strong command of English, as well as those who are adaptable to working in a different cultural setting.
Since its launch in April 2021, the DSP has trained thousands of young Bhutanese, supporting their transition into the workforce or entrepreneurship. As part of the wider De-Suung initiative, which focuses on community service and civic responsibility, DSP also provides young people with opportunities to gain practical experience through internships and mentorships, enhancing their career prospects.
According to Dasho Tashi Dorji, Chairperson of the DSP, “This initiative is about shaping futures, building resilience, and creating a generation of skilled youth ready to contribute to Bhutan’s future.”
