EXCLUSIVE: This is one of those “end of an era” executive departures. Andrew Singer is leaving Lorne Michaels‘ Broadway Video after more than 21 years. He most recently has served as President of Film & Television and Head of West Coast Operations, overseeing the company’s staff, development slate, and production deals with NBCUniversal and other studios.
Singer’s pending exit is still being negotiated, including his ongoing involvement as a producer in series he has shepherded, sources said.
“I’m grateful for the 21 years Andrew and I worked together and I’m sorry to see him go,” Michaels said in a statement to Deadline. “I know he’ll be successful in the next step in his career.”
Singer’s next career move is unclear, I hear it likely involves him launching a production company.
Beginning as an associate producer on the Emmy-winning series 30 Rock, Singer has been instrumental in the sale, launch, and production of Broadway Video’s slate of series, including the Peabody and Emmy-winning Portlandia, Emmy-winning Schmigadoon!, Emmy-nominated Documentary Now!, Peabody-winning Los Espookys as well as AP Bio, Miracle Workers, Man Seeking Woman, The Other Two, Shrill, Detroiters, and Bupkis, on all of which he has served as executive producer.
Singer began his career in development at Carsey Werner Mandabach and joined Broadway Video in July 2003.
