Air India, Singapore airlines expand codeshare to 11 Indian cities and 40 global destinations – ET TravelWorld

Air India and Singapore Airlines (SIA) have significantly expanded their codeshare partnership, adding 11 new Indian cities and 40 more international destinations. This marks the most extensive codeshare expansion between the airlines since 2010, providing travelers with enhanced connectivity between Singapore, India, and beyond.

Starting from October 27, 2024, the airlines will codeshare on flights between Singapore and the Indian cities of Bengaluru and Chennai, increasing their weekly scheduled codeshare services from 14 to 56 flights.

Under the new arrangement, SIA will codeshare on Air India’s domestic routes, including flights between Delhi and cities like Amritsar, Bengaluru, Coimbatore, Lucknow, and Varanasi, and between Mumbai and destinations such as Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bengaluru, Coimbatore, Goa, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, and Thiruvananthapuram. SIA will also codeshare on Air India’s Kolkata to Guwahati flights.

In return, Air India passengers will gain access to 29 destinations across SIA’s international network, including key cities in Australia (Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney), Southeast Asia (Phnom Penh, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur), East Asia (Tokyo, Seoul), New Zealand (Auckland), and more. Existing codeshare arrangements to Kuala Lumpur remain in place.

Additionally, SIA passengers will be able to connect to Air India’s international flights from Bengaluru, Delhi, and Mumbai to 12 destinations in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, such as Paris, Frankfurt, Milan, Nairobi, Jeddah, Riyadh, and London-Heathrow.

The airlines plan to continue expanding the codeshare network over time. Subject to regulatory approvals, codeshare flights will be available for booking through both airlines’ channels.Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial Officer of Air India, remarked, “This expansion is part of our commitment to offering more choices and a broader global network for our guests. It will meet the growing demand for travel between India, Singapore, and beyond, while enhancing connectivity for customers traveling within India and to Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.”

This expanded partnership is set to further strengthen the collaboration between Air India and Singapore Airlines, benefiting travelers with more options and convenience.
