EXCLUSIVE: UTA has signed Ice Cube, bringing the multi-hyphenate international music, film, and sports entrepreneur back into the agency fold.
Cube’s rise from South-Central Los Angeles during the 1970s and ’80s began as the lyrical force behind the groundbreaking hip hop group N.W.A. with hits like Straight Outta Compton and F*** Tha Police, branched into acting with Boyz N The Hood, and franchises including Friday, Barbershop, Are We There Yet?, Ride Along and the 21 Jump Street films. He then branched into producing through his CubeVision banner, with credits that include 50 episodes of the series Hip Hop Squares for VH1 and MTV, and the Oscar nominated biopic Straight Outta Compton, which grossed over $200 million worldwide. Collectively, his films have earned over $1 billion at the box office. He followed N.W.A. with a big solo rap career and has sold over 10 million albums with a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award on his shelf. He also created Big3, the 3 on 3 basketball league.
Ice Cube’s partner in CubeVision is Jeff Kwatinetz. Ice Cube will continue to be represented by Matt Johnson at Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole.
